Ten Thousand Miles, like an American

Ten Thousand Miles, like an American

Ten thousand miles, fifty days, two people, an open road, and countless memories. This is our trip; the trip of a lifetime.

We started with an idea and ended up in places we never dreamed. We made connections with amazing people, shared precious moments with family and friends, and explored each day until the moon came down.

We lived the van life in our Honda Element ecamper and counted the miles with no specific agenda. Unbelievably gorgeous scenes surrounded us as we were constantly reminded of our small place in this ever expansive world. The light danced in the horizon as we sang out loud to Lana Del Rey, enjoyed delicious food on the daily, and kept going with never ending roads to wander.

We are two people connected beyond the constraints of time. The love of my life by my side as we discussed our future, and remembered the past, as one often does while sitting idly in a car. The american dream.

From Cleveland across America the Beautiful to the far southwest, up the awe inspiring west coast to the wonderous northwest, we continued on and trekked across to the southeast, and finally headed north, back home. Undoubtedly we’ll be sharing many images from our trip in the months to come, but for now we share our life on the road in square form via our instagram feeds. You can catch us on there at @kenclunk and @aclunk or follow us on the book.

Ride

Ride

We travel to get lost in and out of time. To pick our spirits up from whatever low place a sedentary life breeds. We are the explorers, wanders, and adventures of the world. Ready for the ride. Join us.

We're traveling west. Open highways, music blasting, beautiful scenes, friends, family, and good food.

On our adventure we'd love to connect with any and all interested peeps. We'd be happy to shoot a portrait session, grab lunch, or chat with any client / friend / future friend.

We know we'll be in Vegas, Sad Diego, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle at some point, but we're happy to meet people anywhere. Shoot us a message if you'd like us to take your photograph or just want to meet up.

We Are Not Alone

We Are Not Alone

As we explore and wander, a common theme is occurring: we are not alone. Both near and far there are things that we as a human race do not understand and can’t even begin to know.

In Washington, DC we marveled at the exhibits of the National Air and Space Museum. Most notably, the images from the Hubble Telescope absolutely make one question their existence in time and place of such a vast universe. We are but a speck. The next day we were in Baltimore at the National Aquarium and witnessed close up otherworldly creatures that existed before us and will continue on after us. The awesome exhibits of Dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago at the American Museum of Natural History in New York left us speechless.

The amount of things we don’t know and won’t know and can’t experience and can’t comprehend... is a bit overwhelming. Yet a sense of happiness sweeps over us as we accept our role. How fantastic that we are able to exist in this reality, together.

This fun and artistic travel photography was created at The Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC, American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY, and at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, MD.

America, Fuck Yeah

America, Fuck Yeah

We rolled into the nation's capital just as the festivities of Memorial Day were kicking off. We saw beautiful architecture, awe inspiring monuments, and memorials that are truly moving. At Arlington National Cemetery we were thrilled to be part of a ceremony at the Women’s Memorial where we heard different woman from each branch of Armed Forces discuss what Memorial Day means to them. They told personal stories of friends and family lost, of honor, and of integrity. They whispered fallen soldiers names as their voice began to crack while they paid tribute. We went on to see a ceremony in which the children of a recently interred soldier honored their father at the tomb of the unknown. Countless headstones, all aligned perfectly from any angle, rolled on for miles. These are the experiences we will take with us on our journey of life.

These images were created in Washington, DC at the Arlington National Cemetery, The Woman's Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Wall, The Korean War Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, and The Washington Memorial.

Fight the Machine

Fight the Machine

Fuck the detached, dispassionate, unemotional, and content. I fight the machine because my conscience leaves me no other choice.

We found ourselves inside a cubicle for far too many hours droning away at work that was meaningless or otherwise unappreciated. Music gave us hope that life would not be filled with a case of the Mondays - but we knew we were dreaming about life, instead of living it. So we changed that.

As some of you know, Angie and I plan on traveling quite a bit over the next year or so. It seems we can’t go more than a few months without taking some sort of trip - and this year we’re all in. It’s in our DNA. In fact, the very first thing we did together was head to Niagara Falls, Canada without a passport, or parental permission, at the age of 17.

Many more adventures to come: throughout this year we will be in London, Chicago, Cancun, Milwaukee, New Orleans, San Antonio, and tons of other places between Maine and California. Before all of this, we take it back to where it all began by urban camping in our Honda Element Ecamper in the middle of Niagara Falls, Canada.
